On Friday, the FCC issued a bipartisan "enforcement order", forcing Comcast to stop their practice of "throttling" peer-to-peer connections, as well as their "traffic shaping" of other bandwidth-intensive activities of their subscribers.
The order stems from a statement of principles issued by the FCC in 2005. This statement of principles was designed to insure that broadband internet service is "widely deployed, open, affordable and accessible to all consumers.”
The FCC's decision in this matter is a huge victory in the fight for net neutrality. Read more about the FCC, Comcast, and net neutrality here.
